WordPress is a CMS (Content Management System).  It is computer software to manage your words, post, images so that they can be seen and shown online to the world.  WordPress has two (2) domains. One is WordPress Dot Com (WordPress.com) and the other is WordPress Dot Org (WordPress.org).

The Dot Com is a free or paid hosting domain that hosts your blog using WordPress CMS (Software). Basically this means all of you words, posts, and images are on WordPress’s computers, they host your site. This is not a bad thing, it’s just a choice.  When it is free, I have concerns that you limit yourself. Again, that’s not a bad thing, it’s just a choice.

The DOT Org is the domain that has the free download of the latest WordPress CMS (Software). You use this software on a Host Server of your choice.  The host server is always a paid service.   Most people professional websites and blogs use WordPress in this way.

Either way USE WordPress!  This is a fantastic CMS.  I have used many others, including expensive CMSs. WordPress has more support, community, and all around commentary that there is no other CMS for me.
