Monday Blog Tips: WordPress

WordPress, where it all started.  IF you have thought of a different blogging platform, that’s nice. Now forget it.  I hear so many people putting down WordPress.  They just don’t know what they are talking about, they’ve been manipulated. Sorry, I feel very strongly about this.  I have worked with most platforms and almost every computer language.

When I was 7, I went to Penn State and was allowed to write a program using punch cards.  A technician took them, fed them into a machine and a day later (if there were no errors) it produced my results. In 1996 I wrote a robust interactive website for a realtor completely using HTML.  I have been able to evaluate websites and software for usability for many years.  Use WordPress for your blog.

Did you know some of the top Universities use WordPress for their blogs – Harvard, MIT, Duke.  One huge community is a very good reason to use WordPress.  There is help everywhere.  It is also very easy for tech savvy people to write themes, plugins, and widgets for you and inexpensive.  The list goes on and on.

On the other hand, no other CMS has been around for so long.  Most other CMSs are specialized and require someone with that expertise to help you.  Therefore, the cost goes up.  And free blog platforms translates to inexpensive not without strings.
